Setting sprays have become a must in ladies’ makeup kits due to their ability to hold makeup in place all day, without the need for heavy powder. There are sprays to control oil, moisten skin, keep your makeup looking perfect all night and, now, to reduce signs of aging. Skindinavia is probably the most well-known name is setting spray, and they have a product called 10 Years Younger Makeup Finish that I have been trying out for the past few weeks.
Like most Skindinavia sprays, this product releases an extremely fine mist that absorbs quickly and will not leave your face feeling wet. You can spray this seconds before leaving the house and you won’t have to worry about waiting for it to settle in. It also has virtually no smell, which is a huge plus for a lot of people. In terms of keeping your makeup in place all day, this works as well as other sprays I have tried. I would say you could get about five to six solid hours of wear without needing touch-ups, depending on weather conditions. It is not better than other sprays, but it certainly does the trick.
In terms of anti-aging, I really didn’t see a reduction in the fine lines on my forehead or underneath my eyes. With that being said, I am 24 and don’t have significant wrinkles yet, so I am not sure a product like this would have an effect on my skin.
Does it prevent aging? That’s a tricky question to answer. I think it absolutely can’t hurt to use this spray, but I am not convinced that the aging process would be drastically reduced by using it. Another big con, and the reason I stopped using this product after about three weeks, is that I began breaking out along the sides of my cheeks and on my chin. I didn’t get pimples per se, but more like small bumps under the skin; nothing severe, but enough to make me notice. These are also areas I never break out; my T-zone is really my problem area, so that definitely made me extra aware. I cannot say for sure that the spray caused my breakout, but it was the only new addition to my skin routine that I could think of. Of course, there are always hormones, weather, diet and all that stuff to blame, but it’s just something that readers should be aware of.
My overall opinion of this product is that it does just as good a job of holding makeup in place as other setting sprays by Skindinavia and Urban Decay. I think the anti-aging properties of this product certainly may help to prevent the aging process, but I did not see a reduction in the fine lines I currently have. Also, the fact that it made me break out is a big negative for me.
